We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Principal Engineer to join our team. This role is located in Manchester. 

\n

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways: 

\n

\n
• \nDrive the design, development, and delivery of a greenfield Corporate Actions Processing Engine, a mission-critical enterprise platform for BNY\n

\n

• \nCombine hands-on technical expertise with architectural leadership to transform Corporate Actions processing capabilities\n

\n

• \nInfluence the technology direction of the platform through innovative solutions and best practices\n

\n

• \nLead engineering teams through complex, multi-year transformation programs ensuring successful delivery\n

\n\n

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: 

\n

\n
• \nTechnical Skills\n
  \n
  • \nSignificant software engineering experience with at least 5 years in leadership roles (eg. Head of Engineering, Technical Lead)\n

  \n

  • \nExpert-level proficiency in Java and frameworks like Spring Boot for building microservices\n

  \n

  • \nStrong expertise with relational databases (Oracle) and data modelling expertise (canonical data models, JSON)\n

  \n

  • \nDeep experience with enterprise messaging platforms (Kafka, IBM MQ)\n

  \n

  • \nProven experience implementing AI/ML solutions ( using Python or other frameworks) to solve business problems\n

  \n

  • \nFull-stack development experience (RESTful APIs, front-end frameworks such as Angular)\n

  \n

  • \nExperience with Cloud and Containerization technologies\n

  \n

  • \nCI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing frameworks\n

\n\n\n

• \nDomain Expertise\n
  \n
  • \nSignificant experience in financial services, specifically:\n

  \n

  • \nPost-trade processing and settlement\n

  \n

  • \nCustody and asset servicing operations\n

  \n

  • \nCorporate actions lifecycle (dividends, stock splits, mergers, tender offers, etc.)\n

  \n

  • \nProven track record delivering mission-critical systems in banking environments\n

• \nLeadership & Delivery\n
  \n
  • \nDemonstrated success leading engineering teams through complex, multi-year transformation programs\n

  \n

  • \nStrong Agile/Scrum methodology experience\n

  \n

  • \nExcellent stakeholder management and communication skills at senior levels\n

  \n

  • \nAbility to operate in a matrixed, global organization\n
