Reports to: Test & DevOps Manager
Location: Surrey (Hybrid working 2 days WFH)
Do you have a passion for ensuring product quality, a knack for detail, and a drive to develop innovative automated test systems? We’re looking for a Test Engineer – Devices to join our growing Product Development team, creating cutting-edge remote telemetry systems.

What you’ll be doing
- Take ownership of product quality for embedded devices.
- Develop, document, and execute test plans for embedded systems.
- Design and implement automated test systems for functional, performance, and regression testing.
- Carry out manual testing when automation isn’t practical.
- Work closely with design and development teams, providing feedback to refine functionality.
- Identify, log, and track defects through to resolution.
- Manage and maintain automated manufacturing test systems to ensure build quality.
- Keep test environments and tools up to date.
- Produce clear, concise test reports and quality metrics.
What we’re looking for
- Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years’ experience testing embedded systems or industrial devices.
- Strong skills in C/C++ and scripting languages such as Python.
- Hands-on experience with automated testing tools and frameworks.
- Solid understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and RTOS.
- Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, and hardware debugging tools.
- Knowledge of communication protocols (Cellular, LPWAN, I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet).
- Familiarity with software change tracking systems (Jira, Bitbucket).
Desirable extras:
- Industrial protocol experience (e.g., DNP3, Modbus, SDI-12).
- Background in telemetry, telecoms, or IT networks.
- Agile/Scrum experience.
- ISTQB certification.
- Familiarity with Altium, CI/CD practices, or cybersecurity for embedded systems.
