Infrastructure Engineer
Infrastructure Engineer – 3-Month Contract – Northampton or Yorkshire (2 days a week on site) Rate: £400 to £500/day We’re looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support and maintain a critical on-premise infrastructure environment. This position is ideal for someone with strong expertise across VMware, backup technologies and storage solutions, with the confidence to operate in a busy, production-focused setting.This role is a hybrid position (2 days a week in the office) and can be based out of Northampton or YorkshireYou’ll take ownership of BAU activities while also contributing to projects and backend infrastructure initiatives.Required Experience
- Strong hands-on experience administering and supporting Windows Server (2016–2022)
- Solid knowledge of VMware vSphere / ESXi in enterprise environments
- Practical experience with SAN storage and zoning (SAN / Dell PowerStore)
- Proven background working with backup technologies and recovery operations (Dell PPDM)
- Comfortable working in an on-prem, change-driven environment handling BAU support
- Support, administer and maintain Windows Server environments up to Server 2022
- Manage and optimise VMware virtual infrastructure, including ESXi hosts
- Configure and maintain storage zoning to ensure correct connectivity (SAN / Dell PowerStore)
- Administer, monitor and troubleshoot backup and recovery solutions (Dell PPDM)
- Provide day-to-day infrastructure support, maintenance and fault resolution
- Contribute to platform improvements, upgrades and best-practice initiatives
- Deliver 3rd-line support and act as a technical escalation point
