Level 4 Apprentice Production Engineer

We are looking for our next generation of engineer to work within a multi-skilled department. Become a well-rounded individual and multi-skilled engineer. Work alongside highly skilled graduate engineers, consultants and industry experts. We want you to grow and learn this knowledge, creating your own expertise and support network.

Role

Day to day role responsibilities include:

  • Learn about the various technologies, machines and value streams within the business including grinding, turning and assembly
  • Produce CAD drawings and layouts for new product, tooling and gauging to allow internal or external manufacture
  • To learn to manage their own projects, investigating root causes into problems and coming up with creative solutions
  • Analysing existing product in carrying out Process Capability,
  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities within the Manufacturing environment
  • Participate in team briefings, workshops and training to ensure smooth integration of new processes, equipment and systems to the production teams
  • Provide and develop process documentation including but not limited to Standard Operating Procedures and Set up instructions
  • Support shop floor team improvement programmes providing technical and logistic support. eg. BIT, 5S SMED projects
  • Ensure safe working practices supporting health and safety within the workplace and assisting with the Risk Assessment process for all manufacturing processes and equipment

Training

  • The Apprentice will be working towards the Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Standard
  • Qualifications include: Level 4 HNC in Engineering or Manufacturing
  • College attendance will be at the Colchester Institute - Colchester Campus one day per week during term time
  • To become an independent multi-skilled engineer and project manager with their own project portfolio

  • Engineering related L3 Diploma BTEC or equivalent, grade Pass (Desired)
