Design and Development Engineering Apprentice
This exciting position will include helping with the creation of 2D CAD drawings for arrangement, fabrication, and machining. It will also include helping with project management and procurement. You will be aiding with simple calculations to determine self-weights, and the design of test jigs.
Role
As a member of a small Mechanical Design team reporting to the Engineering Manager/Technical Director, the role will involve helping the team to design lifting solutions to suit client’s requirements. This position offers a real opportunity to see the design process through to manufacture as Britlift design, manufacture, and test in house.
Responsibilities:
Duties will include, and training will be given, on the below:
- Helping to design and engineer custom beams and frames to suit client lifting requirements
- Producing a full drawing pack in 2D CAD to cover concept approval, fabrication and instructions for use
- Helping with project management
- Designing and producing test drawings
- Producing 3D CAD models
- Preparing supporting documents such as test reports, purchase orders and quality documentation
Training
- Level 6 Degree in Product Design and Development Engineering Apprenticeship Standard

Internal training provided by the employer on the job.
Successful completion of the degree level apprenticeship standard including end point assessment and achievement of a degree qualification. Successful candidate will also have the opportunity of having a permanent position within the company.
