Transformer Assembler/Fitter Apprentice (Level 3 Engineering)

Brush in Loughborough are recruiting apprentice Fitters to join their team in the Summer of 2024. Apprentices will work closely with team leaders and production managers to deliver quality transformer products, including tap changers, control cubicles and internal assembly of 33kV,66kV and 132kV transformers. Role

  • Build transformer internal and external assembly of 33kV,66kV and 132kV transformer.
  • Crimp lugs on copper cable from 25sq mm to 300sq mm.
  • Understanding internal assembly drawings.
  • Specific tool training.
  • Health & safety work, building transformer assembly as per drawings, etc.
  • Final assembly of transformers.
  • Tanking core & coils.
  • Assembling and dismantling units for test.
  • Preparing transformers and parts for despatch.
  • Movement of materials & parts between areas, including oven process.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and housekeeping throughout the production facility.
  • Operation of overhead cranes, ride on pallet trucks, and MEWPs.
  • Adherence to Quality procedures.

Training

Qualifications:

  • Level 3 Diploma (EAL) in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
  • Level 3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship Standard

Delivery Method:

  • Apprentices attend Loughborough College one day per week, term time only

After completion of the training period, progression to permanent employment as fitter, assembly or final assembly. There is also possible further scope to promote as Charge Hand or Team Leader – production depending upon development, experience and skills.
