Position: Test Engineer - Life Protection Equipment
Location: Hemel Hempstead, On-site
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time, 36 hours p/w
As a Test Engineer in our Life Protection laboratory, you'll work with specialist lab equipment to evaluate respiratory protective equipment against both British and International standards. You'll carry out hands-on mechanical testing, operate sophisticated test rigs, investigate product performance and help ensure life-saving equipment performs when it matters most.
A Test Engineers day will typically include:

Setting up and configuring test equipment

Preparing respiratory products for testing

Running mechanical, airflow and performance tests

Analysing test results
-
Maintaining laboratory equipment
-
Liaising with colleagues and customers
-
Contributing ideas to improve testing methods and equipment
Key responsibilities:

Carry out physical and performance testing of respiratory products
-
Prepare samples and set up test equipment and rigs correctly
-
Run tests safely, consistently and in line with procedures
-
Record results accurately and maintain clear, traceable test records
-
Write test reports
-
Support routine checks, calibration activities and upkeep of equipment

Work in accordance with our quality management system (ISO 17025)

Contribute to continuous improvement of methods, equipment and ways of working

Assist with the laboratory Lean 5s improvement program
To be successful in the role, you should possess the following:
-
A minimum of HNC/HND or equivalent in a Mechanical Engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience in a test environment

Good communication skills and the ability to write clear and concise reports

Positive customer focused approach to work and communication with colleagues

Good level of computer literacy and working knowledge of MS Office or equivalent

Strong writing skills - to write clear and concise reports

Able to follow defined processes precisely and produce clear, accurate records

Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team to tight time scales

Knowledge or familiarity of Lean culture and tools
-
Knowledge of 17025 is advantageous
