BTG Recruitment is working with a rapidly growing, investment backed international business that is investing in its finance systems, reporting capabilities, automation and use of AI.
This newly created role combines financial accounting and reporting with the opportunity to work on projects that will modernise the finance function. You will support core activities such as audit and group reporting while helping the business automate manual processes, improve the quality of its data and make better use of technology.
The position is predominantly remote, with travel to an office in London approximately once a month and occasional meetings in Nottingham.
The role
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will work across financial accounting, reporting and finance transformation projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the UK and US audit processes
- Preparing audit schedules and responding to information requests
- Producing consolidated financial information and board reporting
- Providing financial analysis and commentary
- Reviewing existing finance processes and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Automating repetitive reporting, reconciliation and journal processes
- Exploring practical uses of AI within the finance function
- Supporting the development and implementation of the company’s ERP system
- Improving the quality, consistency and accessibility of financial data
- Working with finance colleagues to document and redesign processes
- Supporting VAT and wider financial accounting activities when required
- Helping colleagues adopt new systems and ways of working
The ideal candidate
This role would suit an accountant who combines a strong understanding of finance with a genuine interest in systems, technology and process improvement.
You could currently be working as a:
- Financial Accountant
- Project Accountant
- Systems Accountant
- Finance Transformation Analyst
- Group Accountant
- Management Accountant
You may be qualified, at finalist level or qualified by experience. You do not need to be a technical AI specialist, but you should be curious about how AI and automation can improve finance processes and willing to take ownership of improvement projects.
You should have:
- Broad financial accounting or management accounting experience
- Experience supporting an external audit
- Strong reporting, reconciliation and financial control skills
- Experience improving a finance process or reducing manual work
- Good Excel and data analysis skills
- The ability to understand a process, identify weaknesses and recommend improvements
- Confidence working with finance and non finance stakeholders
- The ability to manage projects and work independently in a predominantly remote role
Experience of consolidated reporting, IFRS, US GAAP, ERP implementation, Power BI, process automation or AI tools would be advantageous but is not essential.
