PE-backed Technology Business
A large, complex, international technology business (£1bn t/o) is seeking a Head of Financial Reporting to take ownership of Group-level external reporting during a period of transformation under private equity ownership, including preparation for separation and standalone reporting.
This is a newly created and highly visible role, acting as the organisation’s dedicated corporate reporting lead. You will be responsible for designing and delivering a fit-for-purpose external reporting framework, taking full ownership of consolidated reporting, audit and technical accounting, while operating across a matrix finance structure without direct line management of all preparers. This role requires someone who can build reporting structure, governance and processes, while maintaining hands-on ownership of complex reporting areas.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement the Group’s external reporting framework, including timetables, controls and governance across a multi-entity, multi-jurisdictional structure
• Take full ownership of the end-to-end external reporting, review and audit process for consolidated historical financial information
• Lead the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements and disclosures under IFRS, ensuring accuracy, completeness and audit readiness
• Create and embed a fit-for-purpose corporate reporting process, leveraging existing teams and processes while building and documenting new frameworks required for compliance and future state reporting
• Act as the Group’s technical accounting lead, providing substantive analysis across complex areas including SOCIE, cash flow, pensions, share-based payments, EPS and financial risk reporting
• Respond to and advise on technical and commercial accounting queries across the business, providing clear and pragmatic guidance
• Develop and maintain a Group Accounting Manual, ensuring policies are robust, appropriate and consistently applied globally, with a view to separation readiness
• Prepare high-quality technical papers and analysis for senior leadership, the Audit Committee and external auditors
• Lead the external audit process, managing auditor relationships and ensuring timely and effective delivery
• Facilitate training and guidance across global finance teams to improve reporting quality, consistency and technical understanding
• Drive improvements in processes used to validate financial information within external reporting, ensuring clarity and integrity of outputs
Candidate Profile
You will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent) with post-qualified experience in Group financial reporting within a complex, international environment. Critically, you will have experience of corporate reporting at Group level, including experience designing or significantly improving reporting frameworks and governance, leading consolidated external reporting and audit processes, and taking responsibility for disclosure-heavy areas such as cash flow, EPS, pensions and financial instruments. You will also be comfortable preparing and defending technical accounting papers for senior stakeholders and external auditors.
You are likely to have trained within a audit and subsequently moved into a senior Group reporting or technical role within a listed or large business. You will bring deep technical knowledge of IFRS and UK corporate reporting requirements, alongside experience operating effectively in complex environment, influencing teams without direct line management. You will have a proven track record of building or improving reporting processes, controls and governance, and be recognised as a strong communicator, able to articulate and defend technical positions with clarity and confidence.
