Treasury Accountant

Interim Treasury Accountant

International Technology Group

Central London | Hybrid

6–9 month contract (possibility of extension)

£350 - 450 per day | Outside IR35

An international technology and manufacturing group is recruiting an Interim Treasury Accountant to support its finance and treasury teams following a major transaction.

The business has recently established a standalone Group Treasury function covering cash management, external and internal funding, foreign exchange and interest rate risk across a complex international group. A number of processes are currently manual, with plans to implement new treasury systems and further develop the function over the coming months.

This is a hands-on treasury accounting role, taking ownership of much of the day-to-day accounting activity and ensuring treasury transactions are accurately reflected through the general ledger, consolidation system and month-end reporting. The role will also provide accounting support for the implementation of a new Treasury Management System and its interface with SAP.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring treasury transactions are accurately recorded daily, including preparing and posting journals in SAP
  • Performing bank, intercompany loan and treasury balance sheet reconciliations and resolving differences
  • Calculating and accounting for interest and other treasury-related accruals
  • Loading intercompany loan and interest balances into Oracle FCCS and resolving intercompany mismatches
  • Reviewing treasury-related accounting across international entities and ensuring appropriate treatment within the Group consolidation
  • Identifying and reporting non-functional currency exposures across the Group
  • Supporting accounting for dividends, withholding tax on interest and other Group Treasury activity
  • Supporting more technical areas including foreign currency, financing transactions, hedge accounting and potentially quasi-equity loans
  • Providing back-office treasury cover where required, including deal confirmations
  • Supporting the implementation of a new Treasury Management System, particularly the accounting requirements and interface into SAP
  • Identifying pragmatic improvements to current manual processes, controls and reporting using Excel and system functionality
  • Working closely with finance teams globally, Treasury and IT to resolve accounting and reporting issues

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA or CIMA, with relevant treasury accounting experience gained within a complex international business. A treasury qualification would be advantageous but is not essential where candidates have sufficient relevant experience.

Strong multi-currency experience will be important, alongside a good understanding of accounting for foreign currency, financing transactions and ideally hedge accounting. Experience with SAP and consolidation/reporting systems such as Oracle FCCS would also be advantageous.

The role will suit someone who is comfortable posting journals and working through detailed reconciliations, while also bringing the technical accounting knowledge and judgement to identify and resolve more complex treasury issues. The individual will need to be organised, accurate and able to work autonomously to tight month-end deadlines, with strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic approach to improving processes.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a newly established Group Treasury function within a large international organisation at an important stage of its development. The role offers a combination of hands-on treasury accounting, technical work, process improvement and systems implementation during a significant period of change.
