Job Description
Purpose of the role
To manage the people, processes, and technologies in the IT function to ensure they deliver outcomes that support the goals of the business.
Accountabilities
- Development and implementation of technology strategies, ensuring technology investments are enablers for business success, such as improving efficiency, supporting growth, innovation, and risk management.
- Provide strategic leadership to the business on all technology matters, collaborating with subject matter experts across the Group Technology organization, including infrastructure, service management, and architecture.
- Align with global data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, security, and privacy, promoting data-driven decision-making through data analytics and AI to extract insights and inform strategies.
- Implement technology practices that comply with security, regulatory, and policy requirements, actively managing risks.
- Lead digital transformation projects and initiatives, modernizing legacy systems and deploying digital solutions to enable customers, clients, and colleagues.
- Manage the technology team by hiring, training, mentoring, setting goals, and ensuring the team has necessary resources and support.
- Oversee technology budgets, prioritizing resources, optimizing costs, and mitigating financial risks.
Director Expectations
- Advise senior management and committees on strategic initiatives, influencing decisions outside the immediate function.
- Coordinate resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
- Escalate policy or procedural breaches appropriately.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies, fostering a culture of adherence.
- Monitor and influence external environment, regulators, and advocacy groups when appropriate.
- Demonstrate understanding of how the function integrates with overall business objectives.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry practices and external market developments.
- Apply analytical skills to solve complex or sensitive problems and design effective solutions.
- Make significant and strategic decisions within the area of authority.
- Negotiate and influence stakeholders at senior levels internally and externally.
- Act as the primary contact for key clients and counterparts.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the function and business division.

- Owning AWS infrastructure-as-code to deliver secure, scalable environments.
- Leading CI/CD tooling and automation, embedding controls and policies.
- Implementing observability tools for monitoring, logging, and alerting in a DevOps environment.
- Provisioning and managing shared platform services like Kubernetes, Kafka, databases, and IdP.
- Ensuring cloud infrastructure security, compliance, and cost-efficiency.
- Driving platform reliability and resilience, applying SRE principles.
- Collaborating with engineering, security, and architecture teams.
- Maintaining reusable infrastructure standards and templates.
- Managing vendor and tooling strategies for scalability and value.
