An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant IT Support Technician to work within the Digital Support team at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust on a fixed term.
The successful candidate will have an existing knowledge of Microsoft Products such as DNS and DHCP and this role will be an opportunity to develop this knowledge further.
This would be ideally suited to someone with a passion for technology and experience of call handling and IT and Infrastructure first line support in a fast-paced hospital IT environment.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be responsible for providing the first line support within the Digital Support Team.
This will include the provision of a call logging and remote fix function via telephone and drop-in. Other duties include some desk-side fixes, the processing of procurement of IT equipment to the Trust, user account creation and maintenance, asset recording, advice to users, and also providing general administration duties.
The post-holder will have opportunities to learn a vast amount of technical skills whilst working within the department.
The post requires a highly developed customer focus and the ability to work on your own initiative.

Experience
- Experience of a call logging system, remote and face to face support.
- General offices duties, filing, photocopying, telephone
- Experience in a busy IT Helpdesk environment or contact centre
Knowledge and Awareness
- A working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft products
- Experience supporting NHS Mail and Teams
- Able to manage user accounts in Active Directory

Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 Grade C or equivalent GCSEs (including English Language and ICT)
- NVQ 2
- Have passed or working towards Microsoft Desktop Support certifications in windows 7 and or Windows 10
- Working towards a degree in an IT related subject
