Job summary

The Clinical Systems Team is recruiting to this position to manage a team of applications specialistsupport staff responsible for the support, configuration and maintenance of Oracle HealthMillennium, Barts Health's electronic health record system.The successful candidate will have strong leadership experience and qualities with expert levelMillennium knowledge. They must be able to demonstrate good technical understanding of clinicalsystems. Planning and prioritisation of the teams workload must be managed to ensure keyperformance indicators are achieved.

Main duties of the job

The Informatics key objective is to improve the quality and effectiveness of healthcaredelivery and maintain the financial viability of the Trust by the application of IT.Millennium is the electronic health record system for Barts Health. There is an ongoingprogramme of work to extend functionality and scope, particularly in clinical areas, whilecontinuing to meet the core requirements of patient administration.The Clinical Systems Applications Support Manager is a key role which bridges the gapbetween technical systems staff and lead operational and clinical users. It coversmanagement of Millennium for both service incidents and build changes. The scope includesthe inter-relationship between Millennium and downstream systems, including in particularRIS-PACS and LIMS.The Applications Support team provides initial triage of all service calls for Clinical Systems,including calls for Data Warehouse, Integration and G2. A number of legacy in-housesystems are also supported by the team.Accountable for the smooth running of the Trusts primary and most widely used clinicalapplication, Millennium and other connected applications.Lead for problem solving and analysis of new requirements connected with Millennium andother connected applications.Responsible for supporting Millennium and connected applications deployment activities.Compliance with all relevant system design standards and policies.

Essential
  • In depth specialist knowledge of IT procedures acquired through degree or equivalent level plus knowledge, experience & expertise in IM&T management & staff management to Masters level or equivalent.
  • ITIL green badge equivalent in service management
Desirable
  • PRINCE2 foundation equivalent in project management
  • Management Diploma or equivalent

Experience

Essential
  • Effective communication and influencing skills
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Good systems and business analysis skills
  • Extensive experience in management of systems staff
  • Significant Problem management experience relating to software systems
  • Extensive experience as an NHS healthcare informatics professional
  • Implementation experience in at least one major clinical system
  • Significant experience in application management of Millennium
  • Broad understanding of NHS clinical and administrative processes.
