Job summary

Barts Health NHS Trust is recruiting a Band 6 Pharmacy Digital Project Coordinator to support the implementation, optimisation, and ongoing rollout of Electronic Prescribing Systems (EPS) across clinical areas.

Working within the Pharmacy Informatics Team and under the supervision of the Lead Pharmacist for Informatics and the Pharmacy Digital System Data Specialist, the postholder will support system deployment, configuration, testing, validation, and user training. The role includes providing hands-on support to clinical teams to ensure the safe and effective use of electronic medicines systems.

The postholder will work closely with pharmacy, ICT, and multidisciplinary clinical teams, supporting system monitoring, issue resolution, and continuous improvement in line with Trust governance and medicines safety standards.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will support the Pharmacy Digital System Data Specialist with the implementation, optimisation, and ongoing rollout of Electronic Prescribing Systems (EPS) across clinical areas within Barts Health NHS Trust. As a member of the Pharmacy Informatics Team and working under the supervision of the Lead Pharmacist for Informatics and the Pharmacy Digital System Data Specialist, the postholder will assist with the deployment of EPS to clinical areas and contribute to system configuration, testing, validation, and maintenance. The role will involve guiding clinical teams through system implementation, delivering training, and providing hands on support to healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective use of EPS.The postholder will play an active role in monitoring and continuously improving the system by identifying issues, supporting troubleshooting and problem resolution, and escalating risks to senior team members where appropriate. Close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including pharmacy, ICT, and clinical staff will be essential to ensure the safe, efficient use of electronic medicines systems that underpin high quality patient care.Additionally, the role will support the development of training materials, assist with user support, contribute to system testing and governance activities, and help monitor system performance to ensure alignment with Trust policies and medicines safety standards.

Qualifications

Essential
  • BTEC level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent
  • MPharm (Master's Degree)
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician/Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice.
Desirable
  • Project management qualification e.g. Prince2 or equivalent

Experience

Essential
  • Relevant hospital pharmacy / medicines management experience
  • Experience of working in an MDT setting
  • Experience of delivering audit
  • Experience of delivering projects
  • Experienced at developing effective working relationships with a wide range staff
  • Experience supporting training and user support for staff.
Desirable
  • Experience with working with an EPS

Knowledge

Essential
  • Knowledge of hospital medicines management processes, including prescribing, medicines administration and reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of electronic prescribing systems, particularly CLEO, and their role in improving medicines safety.
  • Understanding of medicines safety principles, governance and incident reporting processes.
  • Knowledge of relevant medicines legislation, policies and standard operating procedures
