Mid-Level Software Engineer – Enterprise Applications - Hybrid - London

Build the tech powering the future of Out-of-Home media

About Us

Bauer Media Outdoor is one of the biggest players in the advertising world, operating across 13 markets and growing fast.

Our mission is simple. Build tech that actually makes a difference. Empower teams. Delight customers. Shape the media world of tomorrow. We're transforming OOH with data, innovation, and modern engineering thinking — and we're building a team that's excited to push boundaries rather than maintain the status quo.

Tech sits at the centre of everything we do. Transparency, reliability, speed, flexibility, and real value are non-negotiables. If it doesn't make life better for our customers or our teams, we don't build it.

If you want to help redefine media technology at scale, you'll fit right in.

The Role

You'll engineer scalable, reliable, and business-critical solutions that keep Sales, Commercial Finance, and Operations running smoothly across the UK. From integrating platforms to enhancing existing applications, you'll work across the full lifecycle — designing, building, improving, and collaborating with teams across Tech Europe.

Expect hands-on engineering, lots of problem-solving, and a real opportunity to leave things better than you found them. This is a role for someone who wants to make genuine technical impact, not just patch bugs.

What You'll Work On

Systems Integration

  • Modernise legacy integrations
  • Build future-ready solutions that connect our platforms seamlessly

Support & Improve

  • Keep business-critical applications stable and performant
  • Troubleshoot issues and drive enhancements that actually move the needle

Build New Solutions

  • Develop scalable applications and services that users love
  • Help shape new features and capabilities from the ground up

Lead & Collaborate

  • Share knowledge, review code, and work with engineers and product teams across Europe
  • Become a trusted partner for cross-functional teams

What We're Looking For

The Essentials

  • Strong Java background (Spring, Hibernate, SQL, JS) plus solid React exposure
  • Comfortable in Unix/Linux environments and modern IDEs
  • Experience with system integrations and APIs
  • Skilled in handling JSON, XML; hands-on with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Informix
  • Understanding of CI/CD, secure deployments, and environment best practice
  • Ability to partner with product managers and senior engineers
  • Experience delivering scalable, reliable enterprise applications
  • Exposure to event-driven and middleware architectures

Nice-to-Haves

  • Power Platform (Power Apps, Automate) or other low-code experience
  • Familiarity with C, Spring Boot, Maven/Gradle
  • Experience with AWS or Azure

What Success Looks Like in 6–12 Months

  • You've modernised key applications and integrations used by Sales, Finance, and Ops
  • Platforms are faster, more stable, and easier to maintain thanks to your improvements
  • Stakeholders trust you — because you turn business needs into real solutions
  • You've contributed to major Tech Europe initiatives, shaping future-ready architecture
