Professional Services Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Professional Services Engineer - Hybrid Infrastructure to join our Professional Services team. This role merges deep expertise across Azure cloud solutions, on-premises infrastructure, security, and modern hybrid architectures. You will be responsible for designing, deploying, migrating, securing, and optimising cloud and hybrid environments while ensuring solutions align with industry best practices and customer requirements.

As a member of the Professional Services team, you will specialise in delivering secure, scalable, and efficient hybrid and cloud solutions. You will collaborate with internal teams, customers, and technical stakeholders to architect and implement best-practice solutions across Azure, Microsoft 365, virtualisation platforms, and traditional on-premises infrastructure. The role requires a good security mindset, advanced troubleshooting capabilities, and a passion for staying current with the latest cloud and hybrid technologies.

Job Role Responsibilities

• Deliver time-bound Professional Services engagements across multiple customers, balancing quality, risk, and commercial constraints.
• Design and deploy hybrid infrastructure solutions both on-premises and Private/Public cloud. Ensuring proposed solutions meet the required demands for today with scalability for future needs.
• Excellent knowledge of physical and virtualized environments, specifically VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Nutanix platforms.
• Strong experience delivering on-premise server solutions using HPe or Dell hardware.
• Good knowledge of SAN/NAS technologies and high-availability storage solutions like VMware vSAN, HPe Alletra/Simplivity/MSA or Dell PowerStore.
• Experience configuring secure links between environments using VPN, Azure ExpressRoute, SD Wan.
• Design, implement, and enforce security best practices across hybrid and cloud environments, including identity and access management, Zero Trust architectures, least-privilege access, and integration of security technologies such as DLP, SSO/MFA, and IAM.
• Implement manage & migrate cloud resources (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), including virtual machines, storage accounts, virtual networks, and other cloud platform services.
• Migrate on-premises systems, applications and services to the cloud using best practices and minimizing downtime.
• Collaborate with software development teams where required to ensure seamless integration of applications.
• Utilise Automation techniques using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other automation tools to optimise deployment processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect secure, reliable, and scalable solutions.
• Deploy hybrid identity solutions, such as Active Directory, Entra ID, SSO, and MFA integrations.
• Collaborate with pre-sales in designing and implementing, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions across both on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring resilience, compliance, and minimal service disruption.
• Assess, optimise, and rationalise client environments to improve performance, resilience, security posture, and operational efficiency.
• Maintain continuous professional development by staying current with emerging technologies, security threats, industry trends, and required certification paths to ensure solutions remain secure, modern, and effective.
• Produce clear technical documentation and handover to support teams, ensuring smooth transition to BAU operations.
• Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and assist in developing their skills.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience as a Hybrid Solutions Engineer or similar role, with hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing both on-premises and cloud solutions.
• MSP Experience in a fast-paced environment is key. A strong understanding of this is required for the role.
• In-depth knowledge of Azure / Microsoft 365 services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), including Virtual Machines, Azure App Services, Azure Networking, Storage Accounts, Security Center, Azure AD and Microsoft 365 environment.
• In-depth knowledge of on-premises infrastructure including Windows Server environments, VMware virtualisation, Hyper-V virtualisation, Backup & Disaster Recovery, SAN storage solutions
• Experience in Azure Cloud Security, with a good understanding of Azure security posture and configurations.
• A good understanding of networking concepts, VPN, VNET, ExpressRoute, and firewall configurations in Azure and M365.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
• Knowledge of identity and access management, role-based access controls (RBAC), and security best practices in Azure.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in Cloud environments.
• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Passion for continuous learning and self-improvement in the field of cloud computing, cloud security, and related technologies.
• Fluent English and strong communication skills.

Experience

• 5 years+ experience in a similar Hybrid Infrastructure role delivering and optimising client solutions.
• Proven experience in security solutions and technologies
• Desirable or similar certifications, (Current & In date),
