Job summary
The post holder will:
o Apply strong analytical and technical skills to interpret healthcare data, identifying trends, risks and opportunities to support operational decision-making across the Trust.
o Design, develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI, ensuring outputs are accurate, validated and meet shareholders requirements.
o Support the automation of reporting processes to reduce manual workload, improve data quality and enhance efficiency.
o Undertake data interrogation and data linking activities, analysing large datasets from multiple clinical systems and the data warehouse to produce reliable reports.
o Act as a motivated professional, combining great communication and analytical skills to support service improvement initiatives.
This role requires experience in the development and maintenance of reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI, with the ability to analyse and present data clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. The post holder should have good knowledge of T-SQL, including querying, joining and aggregating complex datasets. They should have strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines as well as the ability to work independently within agreed objectives, seeking guidance where required.
The focus and duties of this role will grow and evolve to reflect the changing needs of the Trust.
Main duties of the job
Support the development, maintenance and documentation of data extracts from Trust Clinical Systems and Data Warehouse.
Manage and prioritise a number of concurrent projects of varying scale and complexity, working independently within agreed objectives and escalating issues where appropriate.
Analyse and present complex or sensitive information in a clear and accessible format suitable for shareholders without an informatics background.
Build effective working relationships with shareholders to understand reporting requirements and support the delivery of appropriate analytical solutions.
Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of analytical methods and reporting processes, promoting consistency and good practice within the team.
Provide analytical advice to colleagues within our team, department and wide-Trust.
Identify data quality issues and work collaboratively with relevant teams to support resolution and improvement.
Contribute to team objectives, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues where appropriate.
Ensure compliance with Information Governance, Data Protection legislation and Trust policies in all analytical outputs and data handling activities.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Advanced knowledge in T-SQL and scripting languages
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Power BI including dashboard development, acquired through training and experience
- Evidence of continued professional development
Experience
- Proven track record of working within an Informatics environment within the NHS
- Experience of programming, configuring, managing and maintaining the operation of complex databases and to develop and manipulate large, complex datasets from clinical systems and data warehouse
- Advanced expertise in T-SQL development, including writing, optimising and troubleshooting complex queries across large datasets to improve efficiency, accuracy and reproducibility of reporting processes
- Developed and maintained automated reporting solutions (including Visual Studio or equivalent tools) and created interactive dashboards using Microsoft Power BI, incorporating DAX calculations.
- Experience of data interrogation and data linking, able to analyse complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources.
- Experience in system testing, quality assurance and problem-solving.
- Experience presenting data to colleagues and shareholders.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Developed specialist knowledge of data collection and analysis within a Trust to design and develop reports.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
- Knowledge of automating reports using Visual Studio.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI.
- Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office package - particularly Word, Access and Excel.
