Job summary
Join our Information and Performance Directorate as a Data Development Clerk, where you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of accurate, consistent, and timely data across the Trust.
In this detail-focused role, you will contribute to data assurance and data capture processes, helping to maintain high-quality information that supports key operational and commissioning activities. You will work with the Trust's patient administration system to update core data, supporting the submission of commissioning datasets and ensuring faster, reliable data flows.
You will be responsible for monitoring and improving data accuracy and completeness, using your knowledge of key data items to identify and resolve issues and support data quality initiatives. Your work will directly contribute to ensuring that data used for commissioning purposes meets the highest standards of accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
Working to tight deadlines, you will need strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage focused, computer-based tasks for prolonged periods. You will collaborate with colleagues across the team, contribute to evolving processes, and support the Trust's ongoing commitment to high-quality data and performance.

Main duties of the job
Main Objectives
Using Trust reporting mechanisms to work independently to update missing GP practices that impact commissioning in the Patient administration system and update the patient's demographic
Working to tight deadlines to ensure that key data items, such as missing postcode, gender and GP practice are updated in patient administration systems in line with national timetables to ensure data can flow in commissioning submissions.
To complete Ad-Hoc data entry for patient's demographics as and when required.
To update monthly data entry compliance reports to highlight the increase or decline in data accuracy.

Staff Management, Support and Development
To support staff within the Data Development Team, embedding a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous professional growth in relation to data flows and standards.

Ensure Trust resources are used appropriately and effectively.
Analysis and Judgement
Using Dashboards and reports in Excel and Power BI which identify inaccurate data to look patients up on NCRS and patient administration system to correct invalid data.
To ensure daily/weekly workload is reviewed, in conjunction with the Data Development manager, highlighting escalating where your work may not be completed due to excessive user errors.
Leadership
To cover work, as directed by the data development manager for other members of the team in periods of reduced capacity - i.e. Annual leave/Sickness - as appropriate to the grade.
Be responsible for completing workload allocated. Ensuring work is completed to a high standard within given deadlines and delays are fully communicated.
Communication and Relationships (Internal/External
Maintain relationships with colleagues across Performance & Information, Digital Services, and operational teams, as well as external stakeholders and partners.
Contributing to meetings that supports delivery of the team objectives.
To clearly communicate workflow risk and changes, maintaining clear feedback channels as per Team processes.
Governance and Data Assurance
Complete audits, checks and validations to improve data assurance as per Team/Trust Process.
Monitor data quality, completeness, and accuracy across Trust reporting systems.
Monitor data quality, completeness, and accuracy via Trust reports, investigating errors where possible and escalating as per team/Trust policy.
To ensure that all team guidance, processes and policies are adhered to.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- GSCE or Equivalent
- ITQ level 2, ECDL or Equivalent
Experience
- Competent with Microsoft products in particular, Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
- Previous experience in a data entry or administrative role
- Experience of working in an NHS Information Services environment
- Experience of Trust Clinical system
- Experience of the NCRS (National Care Records service)
Knowledge
- Knowledge of Information Governance, GDPR, Data Protection Act and Caldecott requirements
- Ability to prioritise workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a pressured environment
- Methodical approach and excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
- Knowledge and understanding of NHS Data Dictionary, information standards
