Job summary
The NHS Long Term Plan published on 7 January 2019 included a new ambition to diagnose 3 out of 4 people with cancer at an early stage by 2028 - a significant increase on current performance. To help deliver on this ambition, the Plan also committed to the extension of targeted lung health checks across England. The programme builds on approaches trialled successfully in Manchester, Liverpool and countries overseas. People aged between 55 and 74 years, who have been smokers, will be invited for a lung health check and where required, be offered a low dose CT scan.
The post holder will be required to work within the Lung Cancer Screening team to facilitate the smooth running of the patient pathway and will ensure a coordinated and streamlined administrative process that revolves around the patient and their individual needs. The post holder will be expected to deal sensitively with the general public and liaise with radiology, other hospital departments, GP surgeries and external colleagues
The administrator will need to organise and manage their workload on a day to day basis to meet competing demands and deadlines, including an ability to respond to urgent requests, whilst supporting the Lung Cancer Screening team in other administrative duties, as agreed with the Lung Cancer Screening lead.

To provide high quality day to day administrative support to the Lung Cancer Screening Team, managing own workload, and using judgement and experience to help prioritise work
The ability to work without direct supervision and on own initiative, managing the day to day office functions and liaising with departments both internal and external to the Lung Cancer Screening services as required.

Job responsibilities
Operate SystmOne in order to verify registration and clinical details and update as appropriate. Update all episodes with screening results in accordance with local and programme guidelines and change and make appointments in response to telephone enquiries.
Receive, collate and compute requests for LDCT scans, and liaise with appropriate members of staff regarding appointments.
Ensure that all systems are up to date and that the team have all relevant information for patient assessments
Prepare and administer the LCS assessments involving liaising with the appropriate personnel and updating the Trusts Imaging Computer System and IPM Computer system accordingly.
To use CRIS for report analysis
To update all clinical data finalising outcomes for patients in preparation for statistical audit and report writing.
Perform reception duties and liaise with other staff disciplines to ensure the smooth running of assessments.
Audit assessments held and analyse the assessment list for attendees and non-attendees and reconcile outcome
Perform all ad hoc office procedures on a weekly rota basis including the office Audit measures, DNAs, returned mail and GP reports.
Respond to enquiries regarding Lung Cancer Screening and ensure that queries are sympathetically dealt with by LCS Staff or by the appropriate members of Hospital staff.
Assist the Lead Administrator with all correspondence following patient assessment
To help organise, and work closely with the radiology department and our external partners to ensure reports are completed and received in a timely fashion

Qualifications
- Good all round standard of education Good knowledge of Microsoft office
- ECDL qualification or equivalent NVQ Business admin
Experience
- Experience in an office based environment Experience in a wide range of administration
- Previous experience of working in a hospital and/or community setting
Knowledge
- Knowledge of role of Lung Cancer Screening Programme Knowledge of ordering and purchasing supplies/equipment
