Role Overview
We re seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to help protect critical systems and data from evolving cyber threats. As part of the Security Operations function, you'll design, implement and manage security controls, respond to incidents and drive continuous improvement in cyber risk management.
This is a hands-on role combining technical expertise, threat awareness and collaboration across IT teams to maintain a strong security posture.
Key Responsibilities
Security Engineering & Operations
- Design, implement and monitor security controls across systems and networks
- Configure, maintain and troubleshoot security tools (eg Firewalls, IDS, endpoint security)
- Develop solutions to address vulnerabilities and automate security processes
- Monitor security alerts and investigate suspicious activity
Threat & Incident Management
- Respond to and investigate security incidents, including forensic analysis
- Monitor threat intelligence and assess emerging risks
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and risk analysis
- Lead or support remediation of identified security issues
Governance & Risk
- Support risk assessments and implement mitigation plans
- Ensure adherence to security standards, policies and best practices
- Produce clear documentation, reports and recommendations
- Assist with audits, controls testing and compliance activities
Collaboration & Improvement
- Work closely with IT teams to strengthen security across the organisation
- Contribute to security awareness and training initiatives
- Mentor junior team members and promote best practice
- Stay up to date with cybersecurity trends, threats and regulations
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in cybersecurity or security engineering roles (5+ years)
- Strong knowledge of security principles, tools and technologies
- Hands-on experience with Firewalls, cloud security, IAM, SIEM, and endpoint protection
- Experience with vulnerability management, incident response and risk assessment
- Understanding of security frameworks (eg NIST) and regulatory requirements
- Ability to design secure systems, networks and architectures
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Desirable
- Professional certifications (eg CISSP or equivalent)
- Experience in financial services or regulated environments
- Familiarity with cloud security and modern architectures
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field (or equivalent experience)
