Director of Technology – Digital Assets, Blockchain & Distributed Systems

Location: London (hybrid with International scope)

An international financial market organisation is building a next-generation platform for digital securities and tokenised assets in close collaboration with central banks and regulatory bodies.

They are now hiring a Technology Director to define the architecture and technical direction of this platform.

This is a hands-on, architecture-first position for someone who can make and defend complex technical decisions at the highest level.

Important context for applicants:

This is a deeply technical position centred on DLT and distributed systems architecture.

We are specifically looking for individuals who:

• Have hands-on experience designing DLT / blockchain architectures, not just overseeing them
• Can critically evaluate platforms, smart contract models, and interoperability patterns from first principles
• Are comfortable challenging engineering teams and vendors at a detailed technical level
• Have contributed directly to architecture decisions in production-grade distributed systems

This role is not aligned with programme management, transformation leadership, or coordination-focused profiles.

What you’ll be doing:

• Define and challenge architecture across DLT platforms, smart contracts, and digital asset models
• Evaluate public, private, and hybrid blockchain approaches within a regulated environment
• Shape solutions for tokenised assets and digital cash
• Act as the senior technical authority across engineering, product, and senior stakeholders
• Translate complex distributed systems concepts into clear, business-relevant decisions

What matters:

• Deep expertise in distributed systems and DLT / blockchain architecture
• Strong judgment across platform selection, interoperability, and system design
• Ability to engage credibly with senior executives and regulators
• Track record of taking complex systems from concept through to production

• New platform build (not a legacy transformation)
• Central bank engagement already established
• High visibility, ExCo-level exposure
