Principal Application Developer
Job summary
Are you a passionate and innovative leader with a flair for driving digital transformation? If so, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board's ICT Development Team is looking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic Principal Application Developer to play a major part in helping to shape the future of healthcare technology in North Wales.
This is a hybrid role that requires regular on-site presence, with a minimum expectation of weekly attendance at one of our offices. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and leading a team of developers, fostering collaboration, mentoring junior staff, and driving technical excellence. As such, the role is not suitable for remote-only working and requires a proactive, hands-on approach to team development and leadership.
What You'll Be Doing
You will beworking closely with clinicians, administrators, managers, and technical specialists to design and deliver cutting-edge digital solutions. Your expertise will help ensure our applications meet the complex and diverse needs of our health board, enabling better outcomes for patients and staff, and improving operational efficiency.
Leading the design, development, and delivery of applications using Agile methodologies. Driving the optimisation of our application portfolio to eliminate redundancy, working with clinicians, administrators, managers & technical teams to deliver digital solutions that address complex needs.
Main duties of the job
What We're Looking For
Qualifications: Master's degree and/or equivalent experience in IT or a related field. PRINCE2 Practitioner or similar qualification.
Experience: Extensive experience in health informatics, application development, and some exposure to enterprise architecture. Expertise in Agile development, cloud technologies, and integration standards like HL7 and FHIR. Proven leadership in managing teams and delivering innovative solutions.
Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. A collaborative mindset with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Personal Attributes: Excellent team player and a forward-thinker who thrives in a dynamic and challenging environment. Resilient, adaptable, and passionate about continuous improvement.
