MPhil or PhD in CS, Physics, Computational Biology, AI/ML or similar preferred

My client is a well-funded, early-stage startup building a cutting-edge AI platform focused on improving human health. Theyre now looking for a founding AI Engineer, someone who can write clean, production-grade code while also owning architecture, team growth and engineering culture.

This is not a hands-off role. They need someone who enjoys building from the ground up and wants to shape both the product and the company.

What theyre looking for:

• A strong academic background ideally MPhil, PhD or equivalent depth in Computer Science, Physics, Computational Biology or related fields
• 5+ years of engineering leadership, ideally including experience in AI/ML products
• A proven track record taking an idea or prototype through to a commercial launch
• Deep experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP or AWS), vector search, knowledge graphs, containers and Terraform
• A confident communicator who is credible in front of investors but still happiest when shipping code

What youll be doing:

• Lead on architecture and infrastructure, including ML pipelines and nutrient graph APIs
• Build and scale the engineering and data team over the next 12 to 18 months
• Help shape product direction and technical roadmap
• Work closely with experienced founders in a collaborative, high-trust environment

This would suit someone who wants to stay hands-on while also stepping into a broader leadership role. If you're a serious builder with a research background and commercial mindset, this is one of the most ambitious technical roles in AI health right now.
