Head of Engineering – Core Sports

We’re looking for a Head of Engineering to lead our Core Sports domain — the systems responsible for real-time bet placement and settlement that power our global Sports platform at Super Group.

This is a critical leadership role at the heart of our business. You’ll own the engineering strategy and delivery for highly transactional, low-latency systems operating at scale, ensuring they remain resilient, performant, and ready for continuous growth.

You’ll lead engineering teams across London and Barcelona, partnering closely with Product, Trading, and Platform teams to deliver world-class sports betting experiences.

What you’ll do

• Own the engineering strategy for Core Sports, shaping how we build and evolve our transactional platform

• Lead and grow a high-performing engineering organisation, developing managers and senior engineers

• Drive a culture of ownership, accountability, and engineering excellence

• Ensure the delivery of scalable, resilient, and high-throughput systems that operate reliably under peak load

• Partner with Product and business stakeholders to define and deliver impactful features for our players

• Act as a senior decision-maker across architecture, delivery, and prioritisation

• Collaborate across domains to solve complex, cross-platform challenges

• Champion production-first thinking, ensuring teams own what they build end-to-end

Who you are

• You’ve led engineering teams building highly transactional, distributed systems at scale

• You have a strong track record of leading leaders (Engineering Managers / Tech Leads)

• You bring a pragmatic, outcome-driven approach to technology and delivery

• You’re passionate about building high-performing teams and developing talent

• You have a strong technical background, particularly in backend systems (e.g. Java, Go, .NET)

• You understand modern cloud architectures and distributed systems trade-offs

• You’re an excellent communicator, able to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders

• You thrive in environments where performance, reliability, and scale really matter
