Location: UK – Hybrid (multiple office locations available)

Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 + benefits

A leading global engineering and design consultancy is seeking an Unreal Engine Technical Lead to help shape the future of real-time visualisation and digital twin development within its in-house creative and technology team.

This role sits within a multidisciplinary group of developers, visualisers and designers delivering interactive experiences, digital twins and immersive environments across major infrastructure, energy, transport and built-environment projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing best practices for real-time development, helping teams transition workflows toward Unreal Engine and building scalable frameworks that enable high-quality interactive applications.

The Role:

You will act as a technical lead for real-time development, building the core systems and development frameworks that allow creative teams to deliver complex interactive environments.

Projects range from building-level visualisations to large-scale digital twins and infrastructure masterplans, often integrating complex engineering datasets into intuitive real-time experiences.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing scalable applications in Unreal Engine, primarily using Blueprint workflows

• Designing project architecture, templates and development standards

• Integrating complex datasets into interactive real-time environments

• Ensuring best practice across optimisation, asset management and performance

• Collaborating with visualisation artists, UX designers and developers

• Mentoring colleagues and supporting teams adopting real-time workflows

About You:

You will be a technically strong Unreal Engine specialist with experience building high-quality interactive environments.

We’re particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

• Strong expertise in Unreal Engine (UE5) and Blueprint development

• Experience integrating data-driven content into real-time environments

• Knowledge of performance optimisation and scalable project architecture

• Experience developing large-scale environments or digital twin projects

• Ability to collaborate across technical and creative disciplines

Experience within the AEC sector is beneficial but not essential. Candidates from game development, automotive visualisation, simulation or immersive technology backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.

Technology Environment:

Typical workflows may include assets created in tools such as:

• Autodesk 3ds Max

• Blender

• Autodesk Revit

• SketchUp

Experience with immersive technologies such as VR or AR is also advantageous.

Why Apply?

• Work on large-scale digital twin and infrastructure visualisation projects

• Join a collaborative team combining creative design and advanced technology

• Opportunity to influence real-time workflows and technical standards

• Highly varied project work across multiple sectors and disciplines
