We are recruiting someone either new to, or with experience in, research governance and/or delivery, and who would initially like to join our team for 12 months . A secondment is possible, if approved by your current manager.

BCHFT is a Mental Health Trust, and our Clinical Research portfolio of studies covers all services, including Eating Disorders, LearningDisability, Memory Assessment, IAPT, Early Intervention, Autism and many more.

Main duties of the job

The role of R&I Governance Facilitator is varied, interesting and challenging and requires a proactive and 'can do' approach. No two days are ever the same!

The Governance Facilitator works as part of a team to manage the setup of research projects, clinical trials, service evaluations and surveys. They work with services and teams across the Trust, liaising with colleagues at all levels and from all professional groups to facilitate a varied range of research activities.

After a period of training, the Governance Facilitator will provide research governance advice, independently troubleshoot as necessary, and make a real difference to those affected by a variety of Mental Health, Learning Disability and Dementia conditions.

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential
  • A healthcare-related undergraduate degree, or equivalent level of education/experience of working in Clinical Research Governance

Experience

Essential
  • Able to establish appropriate documentation and record keeping
Desirable
  • Professional familiarity with mental health and/or social care practice and terminology
  • Experience of working in an NHS R&I environment
  • Experience of developing good networks and collaborating with people at all levels both inside and outside the organisation

Knowledge

Essential
  • Knowledge of clinical research governance and the feasibility and setup processes for new research studies, including confirmation of capacity and capability, or a willingness to learn
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload
Desirable
  • Awareness of clinical research governance issues, including risk management, and ability to resolve queries
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) knowledge

Skills/Personal qualities

Essential
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate information concisely, accurately and accessibly
  • Ability to develop interpersonal relationships and work with a range of individuals
  • Good ICT skills, including MS Office suite
  • Team player, good time management skills, organised and resourceful
  • Share information and good practice appropriately
  • Demonstrate commitment to personal and professional development that is appropriate to the job role
