A highly regarded international engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer to join its expanding Data Centre and Critical Facilities team in London.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on some of the world's most technically challenging mission critical developments, supporting global hyperscale providers, developers, colocation operators and enterprise clients across the UK, Europe, India and Africa.

The Role
This position offers a genuine pathway into technical and project leadership, with the opportunity to lead the mechanical design of complex data centre projects from concept through commissioning.
Working as part of an integrated team of engineers, architects and specialist consultants, you'll help deliver innovative, sustainable and resilient facilities while mentoring junior engineers and developing strong client relationships.
Alongside data centres, you'll also have opportunities to contribute to other critical environments including healthcare, broadcasting and specialist industrial facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of mission critical and data centre projects.
- Develop innovative low-energy, low-water cooling strategies and resilient mechanical systems.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities throughout all project stages.
- Produce and review engineering calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation.
- Oversee the development of BIM models and detailed design information.
- Support testing, commissioning and successful project delivery.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers.
- Work closely with clients, contractors and design teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
About You
You'll be an experienced Building Services Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in data centres or other mission critical environments.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Chartered Engineer status (or be close to achieving chartership through CIBSE or IMechE).
- Experience delivering projects through all stages of design and construction.
- Strong knowledge of data centre cooling systems, chilled water design and mechanical infrastructure.
- Experience with PUE/WUE optimisation, resilience strategies and Tier classifications.
- Understanding of testing and commissioning within mission critical environments.
- Commercial awareness with experience managing project resources and programme delivery.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software, including IES, Revit and CFD modelling (such as 6Sigma).
