Managing Partner - Telecommunications

About the Hiring Organisation

Our client is a globally recognised strategic advisory firm specialising in technology, digital transformation, and enterprise strategy. The firm partners with C-suite leaders across industries to help them make confident decisions on their most complex technology and business transformation initiatives.

Unlike traditional consultancies that primarily deliver large implementation teams, this organisation focuses on high-value strategic advisory and strategy realisation. They work alongside executive teams as trusted advisors — helping clients define direction, evaluate major programmes, improve decision-making, and drive measurable business outcomes.

With a strong brand, flat structure, and entrepreneurial culture, the firm offers Managing Partners the opportunity to build and lead meaningful client relationships while operating within a highly respected global platform.

The Role

The Managing Partner will join the UK Telecommunications practice, focused primarily on fixed and mobile network operators. This is a senior, client-facing leadership role responsible for originating, leading and delivering high-value strategic advisory engagements across IT strategy and strategy execution.

The successful candidate will combine commercial origination capability with hands-on advisory delivery expertise. This role requires someone who can both build pipeline and personally lead strategic engagements — acting as a trusted advisor to senior executives across network operators.

This is a hybrid role offering flexibility, with attendance required for key client engagements and internal “moments that matter.”

Reporting line: UK Market Lead (Telecommunications).

Responsibilities

Client Leadership & Origination

  • Build and develop executive-level relationships across UK Telecommunications operators.
  • Originate new advisory engagements, building and managing a robust pipeline of strategic opportunities.
  • Lead business development conversations and shape complex advisory propositions.
  • Own revenue and utilisation targets, with accelerators for over-performance.

Strategic Advisory Delivery

  • Lead high-value IT strategy and transformation engagements.
  • Advise C-suite and senior technology leaders on large-scale transformation programmes.
  • Conduct executive discovery sessions, business reviews and strategic assessments.
  • Provide independent, insight-driven guidance on major technology and operating model decisions.
  • Ensure engagements deliver tangible commercial and operational impact.

Practice Contribution & Leadership

  • Coach and mentor team members.
  • Contribute to the ongoing growth and positioning of the Telecommunications practice.
  • Collaborate across industry and functional practices to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Act as a recognised authority in key sector themes (e.g., digital transformation, AI, network modernisation, strategy realisation).

Desired Skills & Experience

Essential Experience

  • Senior consulting background within a recognised strategy or technology consulting firm.
  • Proven experience working with major UK Telecommunications network operators (e.g., Vodafone, O2, Three or equivalent), ideally within the past 2–3 years.
  • Demonstrated track record of originating and leading strategic advisory engagements.
  • Experience delivering IT strategy, digital transformation or large-scale strategy execution programmes.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience owning or contributing to multi-million-pound revenue targets.

Key Capabilities

  • Ability to operate credibly at C-suite level.
  • Balanced profile: strong seller and strong deliverer.
  • Experience with strategic engagements rather than pure infrastructure sales.
  • Deep understanding of Telecommunications operating models, transformation challenges, and emerging technologies.
  • Intellectual curiosity and strong analytical capability.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a high-performance, growth environment.

Highly Desirable

  • Authority or recognised expertise in emerging topics such as AI within Telecommunications.
  • Experience within independent consultancies or strategy boutiques.
  • Demonstrated experience building long-term client partnerships.

This role is not suitable for candidates with pure sales profiles without delivery capability, nor delivery-only consultants without demonstrated origination experience.

Salary & Benefits

  • Base Salary: £125,000 - £145,000
  • Variable: 30% (commission and performance bonus structure)
  • Pension
  • Private Healthcare
  • Clear pathway to Senior Managing Partner level in an entrepreneurial, flat structure with strong internal mobility opportunities
