Wordpress Developer, Bath (Hybrid WFH 1 day per week), £35k-£40k

Bluefuse is looking for a talented mid-level WordPress developer to join our team. At Bluefuse, we design, build and manage software and digital platforms for businesses that rely on these systems day to day. We focus on building solutions that are reliable, maintainable and built to last.

In this role you will contribute to the development and ongoing support of high-quality, accessible, enterprise level WordPress websites utilising custom themes and plugins. While WordPress will be your primary focus, you may also have the opportunity to work with other technologies including PHP (Laravel), depending on project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively with the team and with clients to understand requirements and shape solutions
  • Developing, building and maintaining accessible, high-quality custom WordPress sites
  • Taking ownership of solutions, ensuring it meets quality, accessibility and maintainability standards
  • Troubleshooting and debugging complex applications across a range of systems and technologies
  • Participating in code reviews and providing constructive feedback to other team members
  • Maintaining clear, structured documentation for all development activities.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of commercial experience in WordPress/web development
  • Strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills
  • Confidence working with PHP
  • Proven experience building accessible, user-friendly websites
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to tackle complex issues
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on delivering high-quality results
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset
  • Experience working within modern development workflows (e.g. Agile, Git version control, code reviews)

Desirable experience

  • Experience with Laravel
  • Automated testing experience (e.g. Playwright)
  • Experience with ACF
  • Familiarity with frontend frameworks (e.g. Angular / Vue / React Native)
  • Experience developing to WCAG standards
  • Exposure to mySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Familiarity with Docker

Interview Process

Our process consists of two stages and is designed to give you a clear understanding of how we work.

  1. Application review and technical task: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a take-home coding task. This allows you to demonstrate your approach to problem solving, in your own time.
  2. Interview: Successful candidates will be invited to an interview, consisting of two parts:
  • A conversation with our Managing Director to discuss your experience and how you approach your work.
  • A technical discussion with our Technical Lead, where you’ll take us through your coding task and explore your thinking in more detail.
