Senior Product Designer

Who We Are

Blüm is a UK leader in clinical innovation, realising, designing, and delivering scalable software products which leverage our centralised library of reusable frontend and backend development assets. At Blüm, we collaborate with both Public and Private sector clients, including the NHS, to optimise the clinician and patient experience, whilst looking at new ways of analysing existing processes to make them more efficient.

Our mission at Blüm HQ is to connect Healthcare excellence with technological innovation, accelerating the transition to a world filled with digital health solutions. Our company expertise derives from ideating, building, and executing our own exciting and innovative projects, whilst providing industry-leading collaborative support to thought leaders, thinkers, and creatives.

We believe in putting the best people together and empowering them to create, deliver and excel. We strive to hire and develop the best. We celebrate diversity of thought, interest, perspectives, and ideas, regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender orientation, sexual orientation, or national origin.

Within the design team, we focus on designing better health and care experiences through technology. We work closely with healthcare organisations, governmental and academic institutions, and businesses to understand real user needs — and turn them into safe, useful, accessible, and meaningful digital solutions.

The Role

We’re looking for a Mid or Senior Product Designer with a strong focus on user research. This is a blended research and design role, where you’ll move comfortably between discovery, synthesis and definition, and hands-on design work.

You’ll work closely with clients, our business development team, and our designers to shape product direction from early discovery through to design. That means planning and running research, making sense of complex needs and constraints, and turning insights into clear product requirements and concepts.

You’ll often act as a bridge between user needs, business goals, and product decisions, especially in healthcare and other complex domains.

What you’ll do

  • Meet with prospective and new clients to understand user needs, business goals, and the context around them
  • Lead or support design thinking and discovery sessions, with a strong focus on qualitative methods, that shape early ideas and direction
  • Help define product scope, priorities, and assumptions
  • Plan and run longitudinal user research for products in development or already in use
  • Turn research into clear, practical outputs such as research reports, user journeys, and service maps
  • Work closely with design and product teams to turn insights into concepts
  • Occasionally support UX and UI design work, depending on project and business needs

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years’ experience in user research, product design, service design, or a closely related role, with solid end-to-end experience across discovery, design, and delivery
  • Proven ability to plan, run, and synthesise user research, with expertise in qualitative methods (e.g. interviews, focus groups, workshops) and working knowledge of quantitative methods to support or validate insights when needed
  • Confidence in leading discovery and design thinking sessions with clients and cross-functional teams, and translating insights into high-quality outputs such as research reports, user journeys, service maps, and design concepts
  • Strong accessibility knowledge and practice, including designing for diverse cognitive, physical, and situational needs, and applying recognised standards in day-to-day design work
  • Solid UX/UI design skills, including information architecture, user flows, and interaction and visual design
  • Experience working on complex systems in specialised or regulated domains, with the ability to untangle intricate workflows and pathways, constraints, and stakeholder needs into usable, human-centred solutions
  • Ability to collaborate across business development, product, design, and engineering teams to shape and deliver solutions
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills, with a pragmatic, outcomes-focused mindset that balances user needs, business goals, and delivery constraints

What we offer

  • Work that genuinely makes a difference, helping improve health and care services for the people who use them
  • A collaborative, supportive, and human-centred culture that values thoughtful work and looking after each other
  • The chance to shape products end to end — from early discovery through to delivery
  • Opportunity to influence how research and design are practised at Blüm
  • Support for continuous learning and professional growth, with space to deepen your craft and try new things
  • Flexible, remote-first working: mostly from home, with occasional travel to our London HQ for client work and team sessions
