Bodyswaps sits at the intersection of AI, VR and edtech, developing immersive learning experiences that change how people learn soft skills. We’re looking for a Tech Lead to guide our technical team and shape the architecture of our platform.
The Role
As Tech Lead, you’ll report directly to the CPTO, lead on system architecture and development and oversee a small team of engineers working on our platform.
You’ll translate complex business needs into secure, scalable technical solutions, drive our cloud-based back end, and partner with design, QA and Unity teams to deliver production-quality products.
This is a hybrid role with 1–2 days per week in our London office (Shoreditch).
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Development
- Design, develop and maintain a robust, secure, scalable technology stack (Google Cloud, TypeScript back end; Vue front end; Unity integration)
- Break down requirements into clear technical tasks; lead by example with code, reviews and design
- Collaborate with product and design to define features, APIs and interfaces
- Lead code reviews to ensure code excellence.
Cloud Infrastructure & Compliance
- Oversee Google Cloud architecture: scalability, security, cost optimization
- Ensure adherence to GDPR, SOC 2 and other relevant standards
DevOps & CI/CD
- Champion automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and continuous monitoring
- Improve build automation, deployment and rollback processes
Team Mentoring
- Mentor and develop engineers through performance reviews and technical guidance
- Foster open communication, collaboration and a culture of continuous learning
Requirements
We're looking for someone with the following:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
- Proven software engineering background (TypeScript, Node) with experience in a lead role
- Proven track record building secure, large-scale cloud services (ideally on Google Cloud Platform)
- Deep understanding of DevOps practices and tooling
- Practical knowledge of GDPR, SOC 2 or equivalent compliance requirements
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, start-up environment; hands-on, resourceful and solutions-oriented
