Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual who is keen to be at the forefront of IT innovation within the NHS. Based out of Bolton Hospital you will be part of a dedicated, hardworking 3rd line team delivering both Technical Support and Projects to the medical services across the Bolton Metropolitan Borough.This will include approximately 7,500 Bolton NHS Foundation Trust employees based both at the hospital and at 25 community sites as well as support for the Bolton GP's and CCG which cover 1,300 staff across 50 sites.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for 3rd Line Support, Projects and Architecture for Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, Bolton GP's and CCG with a strong focus on server architecture (physical and virtual), cyber security and compliance and cloud infrastructure. Providing an efficient technical and system support function to clinical and business services.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To be lead specialist in at least 4 technical disciplines as defined by the Knowledge Skills Framework Document.

3rd Line Support, Projects and Architecture for Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, Bolton GPs and CCG with a strong focus on servers.

Provide robust cyber security monitoring and remediation.

Maintain compliance with NHS Digital standards, Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT), Cyber Assesment Framework (CAF) and ISO 27001 or similar standards.

To maintain and manage an effective, resilient secure virtualised environment.

Support the effective management and monitoring of the physical and virtual server and desktop environment

Experience Operating in a virtual desktop environment with software defined storage and virtualised applications.

To maintain and manage an effective, resilient and secure Active Directory Domain infrastructure.

Proactively monitor the Microsoft Active Directory Domain infrastructure and Microsoft Azure.

To maintain and manage an effective resilient SAN infrastructure

To provide an effective, resilient and secure corporate messaging infrastructure (On Premise Exchange and M365).

To provide an effective, resilient, secure thin and thick client desktop infrastructure.

To maintain effective endpoint and network security for all servers and desktop infrastructure.

To provide an effective, secure, disaster recovery plan for the Local Area Network, Servers and Firewall infrastructure.

To design and implement technical solutions.

To be able to manage Technical workstreams for upgrade and migration.

Assist training other members of IT Staff

To undertake other assignments in accordance with the priorities agreed by the CTO.

Qualifications

Essential
  • MCSE / Degree Level / Equivalent
  • Demonstrate commitment to ongoing personal development
Desirable
  • CCA, CCP, CCE, MCSA, CCNA, VCP
  • ITIL

Experience

Essential
  • Experience in delivering complex technical IT facilities
  • Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp Experience
  • Windows Operating systems and Active Directory Management
  • Exchange infrastructure knowledge (365 & On-prem)
  • Firewall technologies knowledge
  • EDR and NDR management
  • SAN Technologies
  • VMware and Hyper V knowledge
  • Disaster recovery and Business Continuity knowledge
  • Windows Server knowledge
  • Knowledge to be a lead specialist in at least 4 technical disciplines as defined by the Knowledge Skills Framework Document.
  • Supplier management experience
  • Large scale LAN knowledge
