System Engineer

We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Junior Systems Engineer to support a fully cloud-based environment within an Investment Management firm. This role is ideal for someone with foundational infrastructure knowledge, strong troubleshooting skills, and a willingness to learn and grow within a fast-paced business environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day IT support across end-user devices and office systems
  • Perform laptop upgrades, rebuilds, and imaging across the business
  • Create and maintain standard laptop images, ensuring consistency and security
  • Manage device configurations including:
  • Full disk encryption
  • Hard drive setup and management
  • USB port restrictions (while maintaining Bluetooth functionality)
  • Install and configure Windows OS, including patching schedules and updates
  • Identify and remediate system vulnerabilities through patch management
  • Support a fully cloud-based infrastructure (AWS & Azure):
  • Log in, navigate, and manage cloud portals
  • Provision and spin up servers as required
  • Assist with basic cloud infrastructure setup and maintenance
  • Assist with pilot testing programs (e.g., rolling out new builds to a small user group before wider deployment)
  • Provide on-site meeting room IT support, including:
  • Preparing rooms for board/investor meetings (48–72 hours’ notice)
  • Ensuring AV equipment, conferencing tools, and connectivity are fully operational
  • Troubleshoot and resolve common hardware/software issues, including:
  • Docking stations
  • Headsets and peripherals
  • Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word)
  • Adobe software

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in an IT support or systems engineering role
  • Basic knowledge of AWS and/or Microsoft Azure (portal navigation and server provisioning)
  • Experience with Windows OS deployment, imaging, and patch management
  • Familiarity with endpoint security practices (encryption, device control, vulnerability patching)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware and software

Desirable Skills

  • Exposure to cloud-first or fully cloud-based environments
  • Experience with endpoint management tools (e.g., Intune, SCCM)
  • Understanding of IT security best practices
