Pre-Sales Consultant – SaaS Organisation - Leeds

About the Role

The Pre-Sales Consultant role is pivotal to their success.

We are looking for a commercially minded solution consultant who combines strong sales expertise, deep product knowledge, and advanced technical capability. You will work closely with the New Business team to win new clients by uncovering pain points, shaping opportunities, and demonstrating the value of our solutions.

You will use consultative sales methodologies (such as SPIN and Challenger) to guide prospects through their buying journey: diagnosing their situation, surfacing problems, exploring implications, and leading them to the need-payoff.

Your technical skills will enable you to work directly with prospect data, build datasets, and craft compelling demonstrations and Proof of Concepts that showcase our product's full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage consultatively with prospects to uncover business challenges and create a vision for change anchored in our SaaS solutions.
  • Act as the technical authority during sales cycles, translating business requirements into solution designs and architectures.
  • Write and optimise SQL queries to explore customer data, build datasets, and validate data models for demonstrations and Proof of Concepts.
  • Design and deliver tailored product demonstrations and Proof of Value projects that address customer use cases and demonstrate measurable impact.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, becoming a strategic advisor throughout the buying process.
  • Provide strategic input during opportunity qualification, shaping win strategies and identifying potential risks early.
  • Collaborate with Product and Delivery teams to feed customer feedback and market intelligence into our roadmap.
  • Respond to RFI/RFP documents with clarity and precision.
  • Ensure smooth handover to Account Management with clear documentation and Statements of Work.
  • Support marketing events, conferences, and webinars as a product evangelist.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of competitive offerings and position our solutions effectively.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record in a pre-sales, solution consulting, or sales engineering role within a software or SaaS environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience applying consultative sales methodologies to influence complex buying decisions.
  • Advanced SQL and CSS skills.
  • Experience with BI and analytics tools and the ability to quickly become an expert in our platform.
  • Exceptional presentation, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities in a fast-paced environment.

Must be happy to travel to Leeds twice a week.
