Senior Ruby on Rails Developer - Contract | Government Project - SC Cleared
Location: UK (Remote/Hybrid - Occasional UK site visit required
Rate: £450 - £500 per day
Duration: Initial 3 months

We are currently recruiting for a SC-Cleared Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to join a high-profile government programme on an initial 3-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced contractor who can hit the ground running within an established delivery team, contributing from day one in a fast-paced public sector environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain robust, scalable applications using Ruby on Rails
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams including product, design, and delivery
- Contribute to best practices, including code reviews, TDD, and mentoring junior developers
- Ensure solutions align with GDS service standards, including security and accessibility requirements
- Integrate seamlessly into an existing agile team environment
Key Skills & Experience:
- Senior/Lead-level development experience
- Strong expertise in Ruby on Rails
- Solid experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Proven public sector/government experience
- Strong understanding of GDS standards, including:
- Service standards
- Security principles
- Accessibility requirements
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders effectively
- Collaborative mindset with experience working in established agile teams
- Comfortable supporting code reviews and mentoring
Additional Information:
- Candidates must be able to interview and start at short notice
- Prior experience working on government digital services is highly desirable
