Senior Python Developer | SC Cleared | Data & Integrations | £450pd Inside IR35

Senior Python Developer required for a major public sector digital transformation programme. This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed integrations team delivering critical data and API solutions that support nationally significant services.

Working within a multidisciplinary Agile environment, you'll play a key role in building and supporting operational integrations, developing scalable APIs, and delivering robust data pipelines within a modern cloud-based architecture.

Contract Details

  • Rate: £450 per day (Inside IR35)
  • Location: Hybrid working with attendance in Leeds, Sheffield or London as required
  • Clearance: Active SC Clearance preferred, or candidates confident of obtaining clearance
  • Contract: Initial 3 months

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable APIs and integration services using Python.
  • Build and support robust ETL processes and automated data pipelines.
  • Develop solutions that integrate operational systems with analytical and reporting platforms.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers and stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Improve and re-engineer existing data flows to support scalability and reuse.
  • Deploy and support services within AWS cloud environments.
  • Participate in operational support activities and service management processes.
  • Ensure solutions are resilient, observable and supportable in production environments.
  • Contribute to best practice engineering standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial Python development experience.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience working with complex datasets.
  • Proven experience developing APIs and Back End services.
  • Strong background in data engineering, ETL development and data integration.
  • Experience working with AWS cloud services.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience.
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices, testing and deployment.
  • Experience with:
    • Pytest
    • Git
    • CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar)
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Public sector or highly regulated environment experience.
  • Experience supporting Business Intelligence or analytics platforms.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, observability and production support practices.
  • Previous experience on large-scale integration or data transformation programmes.
