Research Engineer Intern
Bowleys Oversight is building a new category of residential property decision intelligence. We combine data, mathematical modelling and AI to help landlords, investors and property owners make better decisions.
This is an opportunity to work directly with the founder and help build the analytical and technical foundations of the business from the ground up.
What you'll do- Design and build mathematical models for real-world property decisions.
- Develop Python-based tools and internal software.
- Analyse large property datasets to identify patterns and opportunities.
- Build decision models for pricing, rental performance, investment and asset management.
- Experiment with AI and LLMs to automate research and analysis.
- Create prototypes, dashboards and internal applications.
- Improve and validate models using real market data.
- Work across engineering, data science and product development.
- Is studying or has recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Data Science or a related quantitative subject.
- Has strong programming skills, ideally in Python.
- Enjoys solving complex problems from first principles.
- Can translate ideas into working software.
- Is curious, ambitious and enjoys learning quickly.
- Wants to build products rather than simply maintain them.
Experience with AI, machine learning, optimisation, data engineering or full-stack development is a bonus but not essential.
What you'll gain- Direct mentorship from the founder.
- The opportunity to work on genuine AI and decision intelligence systems.
- Significant ownership from day one.
- Exposure to product development, modelling and commercial strategy.
- Flexible working arrangements.
- The possibility of progressing into a full-time founding engineering role as the company grows.
We value curiosity, intellectual honesty, rapid learning and first-principles thinking. We care more about your ability to solve difficult problems than your previous job titles or industry experience.
If you're excited by building technology that solves complex real-world problems and want to help create something from the ground up, we'd love to hear from you.
