Working as part of a small team, the post holder will work closely with Bradford Teaching Hospitals Trust colleagues and 3rd party suppliers to understand current and future business process to design, create, test and implement automated processes to reduce repetitive manual administration tasks. The aim of this project is to automate time consuming manual processes, increase accuracy and reduce response times thus directly improving patient care. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has technical experience in this area.
The post holder will be responsible for the design and creation of process automation solutions and for the integration of these into, and between, existing Trust systems. They will participate in all areas of the robotic automation development, including; feasibility research, design, programming, versioning control, testing, documentation, technical implementation, deployment and monitoring, maintenance of processes, providing cost-effective, risk-controlled, robust, reliable, responsive and secure automation solutions. Primarily through the use of automated tools and software, this post will lead to improved efficiencies around the Trust, due to the delivery of robust, reliable, responsive and secure automated processes.
Main duties of the job
Working independently the role will include:
Solution development, process maintenance and monitoring of live processes
Identification of requirements for new automations and associated integrations
Proposals for cost-effective developments
The creation of complex functional specifications
Application programming across a range of platforms
Authoring of supporting documentation
Systems integration, testing and deployment
Maintaining test and live environment of RPA software at the Trust, including managing updates / upgrades /business continuity / impacts from associate applications
Participating in all aspects of RPA training
Participating in all aspects of RPA process design
Ensuring project needs are met whilst maintaining system security and data integrity

Job responsibilities
The job holder will work closely with the project manager and other Trust colleagues and will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and broader automation technologies and processes for M365 and PowerAutomate/Platform within the Trust. The job holder will work closely with multiple third-party applications within BTHFT.
This post will be responsible for the design and creation of automation solutions and for the integration of these into, and between, existing systems. Providing cost-effective, risk-controlled, robust, reliable, responsive and secure automation solutions, this role will support clinical and corporate transformation needs to assist the organisation in delivering its strategy.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification or significant experience of working at degree level
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Blue Prism Cloud Associate Developer / or alternative practitioner status
- Comprehensive IT training/education
- Management /leadership qualification or equivalent knowledge at post graduate level
- Additional automation training or certification
- Project Management qualification or equivalent experience
Communication

- Ability to work independently, using own initiative and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal - able to communicate complex and sensitive information and use persuasion, influencing and negotiation

Knowledge and Experience
- Significant experience of working with automation technology to deliver complex automations
- Experience with SQL,VB/.net/C#/Java, Javascript, Web Services, HTML/CSS
- Extensive knowledge of Blue Prism RPA, iOCR, Blue Prism Cloud Cognitive Tools (language translation, sentiment analysis, keyword classification, interact e-forms, chatbot and orchestrator). As well as PowerPlatform, PowerAutomate, and M365 technologies.
- Practical experience of managing the automation lifecycle complying to the best practice standards
- Experience of engaging with customers on a consultative basis
- Highly experienced in the use of Microsoft Office applications, such as Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel
- Experience of developing solutions using Microsoft Power Apps and Microsoft Flow (Automate).
- Experience of facilitating change in practice to improve services
- Analytical skills and the ability to work with complex datasets
- Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
- At least 6 months experience working within an NHS Acute hospital
- Experience of delivering automations using key NHS applications including ESR, ERS, PAS, EPR, etc.
- Experience of delivering detailed written reports and presentations
- Project management / co-ordination
- Handle sensitive information with appropriate discretion
