Due to the retirement of our existing CNIO, Bradford Teaching Hospitals are looking for an experienced and inspiring registered nurse or midwife to join our Digital, Data and Technology team as Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO). This is an exciting leadership role for an individual who is passionate about improving patient care through digital innovation, clinical informatics and service transformation.
The CNIO will provide professional nursing leadership across the design, development and implementation of digital systems, ensuring they support safe, effective and high-quality care. Working closely with nursing, clinical and digital leaders, the postholder will champion the voice of nursing and midwifery in digital transformation, helping to embed technology that improves clinical practice, patient outcomes and staff experience. This role is ideal for a senior nurse with strong clinical credibility, leadership skills and a keen interest in informatics, innovation and change management.Main duties of the job
As CNIO, you will play a key role in shaping how digital systems support nursing and midwifery practice across the Trust. Working closely with clinical, operational and digital teams, you will help design, implement and improve digital solutions that make a real difference to patient care, staff experience and service quality. You will champion nursing informatics, support the successful adoption of electronic patient records and other digital tools, and ensure the voice of nursing is at the heart of digital transformation. Qualifications
- Registered Nurse or Midwife
- Educated to Degree level
- Additional specialist knowledge or training to master's level or equivalent experience
- Evidence of ongoing and recent personal and professional development
- Evidence of training in clinical safety and risk management
- Recognised leadership qualification or training programmes / frameworks
- Project or Programme Management qualification, such as PRINCE II, Managing Successful Programmes
- Management qualification
Experience
- Previous experience of working in the NHS or a similar large, complex environment
- Significant post registration experience
- Experience in supervising, leading and managing staff
- Extensive experience in clinical practice at a management or leadership level - with a track record of credibility
- Change management experience related to the planning and delivery of work in a clinical setting

Knowledge
- An in depth understanding of the statutory framework governing nurses and midwives including emerging nursing revalidation
- Understanding (& experience) of how to improve clinical quality in acute patient settings
- A clear understanding of the national nursing and midwifery strategy, resultant work-streams and the standards to underpin and demonstrate best practice in nursing;
- understanding of national policy in relation to the national approaches to clinical quality, the Care Quality Commission activities and methodologies & the impact & expectation on front line services to deliver high quality safe care
