An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious IT Category Manager to join a highly regarded, mature and best-in-class procurement function within a major global organisation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to accelerate their procurement career. The organisation has an excellent track record of developing and promoting talent, with genuine opportunities to progress into a Head of Procurement / Category leadership role, broaden into other category areas, or gain wider international exposure.
The role can be based anywhere in the UK, including Scotland, with two days per week in your nearest office. There will also be some UK and international travel depending on projects and stakeholder requirements.
The Role
As IT Category Manager, you'll take responsibility for strategic sourcing and category management across a broad portfolio of technology spend, including:
- Software, SaaS and enterprise applications
- IT Professional Services and Consultancy
- Networks and Telecommunications
- Cloud and Infrastructure
- Hardware and End-User Computing
- Managed Services and Outsourcing
- Cyber Security and related technology services
You'll manage complex sourcing projects from initial strategy through to negotiation and contract award, partnering with senior Technology and business stakeholders to deliver commercial value.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic sourcing and category management across a broad portfolio of IT spend.
- Develop and execute category strategies across Software, Networks, Infrastructure, Cloud, Hardware and IT Services.
- Lead complex RFPs, supplier evaluations, commercial negotiations and contract awards.
- Manage strategic relationships with major technology suppliers.
- Partner with senior IT, Technology and business stakeholders to understand future requirements.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, supplier consolidation, innovation and commercial improvement.
- Negotiate complex technology contracts and commercial models.
- Support supplier performance and relationship management across strategic vendors.
- Work collaboratively with procurement teams across the UK and internationally.
- Help develop procurement strategies for greenfield areas of spend across other global regions.
- Contribute to the continued development of an already mature and high-performing procurement function.
We're looking for a bright, ambitious and commercially minded procurement professional with:
- Strong strategic sourcing and category management experience within IT / Technology Procurement.
- Broad experience across multiple IT subcategories rather than being limited to one specialist area.
- Experience managing complex end-to-end sourcing projects.
- Strong commercial negotiation and contract management capabilities.
- The confidence to engage and influence senior Technology and business stakeholders.
- Experience working with major technology suppliers and complex commercial agreements.
- A proactive and ambitious mindset with a genuine desire to progress.
You could currently be operating as an IT Category Manager, Technology Category Manager, Senior IT Buyer or IT Procurement Manager and looking for a role offering greater scale, complexity and career development.
