Procurement Indirect Buyer | £35,000 - £38,000 | Midlands | 1 Day per Week in Office

Indirect Buyer | Technology | £35,000 - £38,000 | Midlands | 1 Day per Week in Office

Junior Buyer / Procurement Officer / Purchasing Officer / IT Buyer / Buyer

I am working with a FTSE-listed, award-winning transport technology business trusted by some of the biggest names in UK logistics and fleet management. With over 40 years in the industry, a global customer base, and serious growth ambitions, this is a business with genuine substance behind it and a procurement function that is now being built to reflect that.

They are looking for an Indirect Buyer to take commercial ownership across a tech-focused category portfolio covering software, hardware, and data centres. This is a newly created position reporting directly into the Procurement Manager, with real influence over how the category function takes shape.

If you are an indirect buyer looking to broaden your experience, work across interesting categories, and build towards Senior Buyer level in a business that is genuinely going places, this is worth a closer look.

Why Join?

  • £35,000 - £38,000 dependent on experience
  • Predominantly remote with just 1 day per week in the Midlands office
  • Clear progression pathway to Senior Buyer as the function grows
  • Tech category ownership across software, hardware, and data centres from day one
  • CIPS supported with the organisation encouraging ongoing professional development
  • High visibility role working directly with senior stakeholders across the business

What You'll Be Doing

  • Taking strategic procurement responsibility across a range of indirect categories, with a primary focus on software, hardware, and data centres
  • Negotiating contracts for both renewals and new services, with a focus on driving value and reducing cost
  • Building and managing supplier relationships, ensuring performance and value are consistently delivered
  • Becoming embedded with internal stakeholders to provide commercial support and manage spend effectively across the business
  • Supporting the development of a category procurement structure and informing sourcing strategy through market intelligence
  • Deputising for the Procurement Manager where required

What We're Looking For

  • A minimum of 12 months of indirect procurement experience — IT category exposure is a bonus but not essential
  • CIPS qualified or actively working towards it
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the confidence to engage and influence senior stakeholders
  • A self-starter who can work independently, prioritise effectively, and make well-reasoned commercial decisions
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office and ERP systems — experience with IFS is an advantage
