Senior Category Manager

Senior Category Manager – IT Procurement | Up to £85,000 + Package | 3-Month FTC | Remote

My client, a large, complex global organisation, is looking for an experienced Senior Category Manager – IT Procurement to join its procurement function on an initial 3-month fixed-term contract.

This is a senior role within the IT procurement function, taking ownership of a significant portfolio of technology spend. We are specifically looking for someone with strong IT category experience who can quickly add value within a fast-paced and complex environment.

The role is predominantly remote, with travel required a few times per month, and offers a salary of up to £85,000 + package, pro rata. While this is initially a 3-month FTC, the procurement function is going through a significant period of change and transformation, meaning there could be further opportunities in the future.

You will take ownership of key IT categories, working closely with senior stakeholders to develop and execute category strategies and deliver commercial value.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing IT category and sourcing strategies
  • Managing complex, high-value technology sourcing projects
  • Leading commercial and contractual negotiations
  • Managing strategic technology suppliers and vendor relationships
  • Delivering savings, cost optimisation and improved commercial terms
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders across the organisation
  • Driving supplier performance, innovation and continuous improvement
  • Supporting wider procurement transformation and change
  • Collaborating with regional and global procurement teams

We are particularly interested in candidates with:

  • Strong IT / Technology procurement experience
  • Category expertise across software, technology services, hardware and wider IT spend
  • A strong track record of strategic sourcing and complex contract negotiations
  • Excellent commercial and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working within large, complex or matrix organisations
  • The ability to operate autonomously and make an immediate impact

People management experience is not required – the priority is finding someone with excellent IT category expertise, commercial capability and stakeholder management skills.

This is a great opportunity to join a high-profile procurement function at an exciting point in its transformation journey, gain exposure to senior stakeholders and take ownership of strategically important IT spend. For someone who can come in and make an immediate impact, there is also the potential for further opportunities within the organisation beyond the initial 3-month contract.
