As we move from start-up to scale-up, we’re looking for a commercially driven BDM to own our mid-market retail segment and help drive the next chapter of growth.

Role Overview

This is an outbound, new business role with real commercial ownership.

You’ll own the mid-market retail segment end-to-end — from first outreach to signed contract. Reporting into the GM, you’ll have the autonomy to build your own patch, backed by an award-winning case study library and a world-class product team. You’ll work closely with Account Management, Marketing, and Product to ensure the deals you close land well and perform strongly.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prospecting & Pipeline Development

  • Identify and target mid-market retailers across the UK, focusing on heads of ecommerce, affiliate, retail media, CRM, and trading
  • Build and manage a healthy CRM pipeline with precision and energy
  • Design and run outbound sequences across email, LinkedIn, and phone that feel personalised at volume
  • Leverage AI-powered sales automation tools to work smarter at scale

2. Closing & Commercial Ownership

  • Own deals from first contact through to signed contract
  • Self-source pipeline without reliance on heavy SDR support
  • Work closely with the GM to refine ICP, messaging, and commercial terms
  • Feed market intel back into product and marketing to sharpen positioning

3. Events & Industry Presence

  • Attend key industry events in the UK and internationally — RetailX, PMA, IMRG and others
  • Represent BrandSwap at conferences and convert warm contacts into pipeline

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Account Management to ensure smooth handover post-close
  • Partner with Product and Marketing to feed in commercial insight
  • Help build scalable sales processes as BrandSwap grows

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • 2–4 years of B2B sales or BD experience in SaaS, commerce media, retail media, or ad tech
  • Proven ability to self-source and close pipeline independently
  • Experience managing a CRM pipeline end-to-end
  • Experience selling to retail or ecommerce decision-makers is a strong plus

Sales Capability

  • Hands-on with modern sales automation and prospecting tools — you know how to build sequences that convert
  • Comfortable with performance metrics: pipeline value, conversion rates, revenue targets
  • Analytical enough to spot patterns and optimise your own approach

Interpersonal Skills

  • A genuine people person — you build rapport quickly and maintain relationships effortlessly
  • Strong communicator across email, phone, and in person
  • Commercially minded with confidence to negotiate and hold a position

Drive & Autonomy

  • Highly organised with a disciplined approach to pipeline management — detail-oriented and consistent in follow-through
  • Self-starting and comfortable in a fast-paced, founder-led environment
  • Motivated by building something meaningful, not just hitting a number

Nice to Have

  • Experience with affiliate, performance marketing, or loyalty ecosystems
  • Familiarity with IMRG, RetailX, or Internet Retailing community
  • Previous start-up or scale-up experience
