IT Technician Apprentice (Brentwood School)

We are looking for an IT Apprentice to assist by supporting users with IT issues they are experiencing within the school. The ideal candidates will help to implement IT policies, procedures and best practices.

Role

  • Provide 1st line support for all issues reported through the help desk, logging the issues as they occur or raising issues as appropriate. Diagnose faults, assist users, investigate causes and provide both short-term alleviation and, where possible, final resolution and closure.
  • Escalate issues that cannot be resolved to team members, communicating the issue effectively and concisely to ensure an effective handover. Manage ongoing communication with affected end-users.
  • Contribute to the on-going implementation and development of projects within the team and collaborate with colleagues to meet deadlines and fulfil the project goals and objectives of the department.
  • Maintain the smooth operation of school AV equipment such as projectors, interactive whiteboards, displays, presentation equipment, and other audio-visual aids
  • Support assemblies, meetings, events, open days and after-school events on occasion as required. Assist the Exams team with the planning and set-up for examinations.
  • General physical work such as moving/installing computers, printers, switches, server room maintenance etc.
  • Perform diagnosis procedures on PCs, mobile devices, phones, peripherals and applications.
  • Advise on compatibility of hardware, applications and operating systems, according to user requirements.
  • Assist with the install, configuration and deployment of applications. Troubleshoot application install issues, identify application compatibility issues and install essential software patches.
  • Assist with the management of the ClickView server to ensure access to recorded videos. Upload videos to the ClickView Online server as required.
  • To provide appropriate support for all users in the use of ICT and to give advice and training where appropriate for all users in the school.
  • To support and maintain the 1:1 device (iPad) program.
  • To provide 1:1 and group user training as and when required.
  • To help and encourage the rollout of GSuite across the school.
  • Assist in the maintenance, management and deployment of the school’s 1:1 program. To ensure that mobile devices registered with the network are correctly controlled and have the appropriate resources and apps made available to them.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communications Technician, with training in how to:

  • Efficiently operate and control your ICT infrastructure – physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and data storage.
  • Use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.
  • Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance.
  • Maintain regulatory, legal and professional standards.
  • Support the information systems needs for your business.

The role offers a permanent role upon completion of the apprenticeship depending on performance.
