Software Development Manager

Software Development Manager - Edinburgh    Are you a hands-off, strategic software leader ready to make an impact at scale?   Our client, a leading UK SaaS technology provider within the hospitality sector, is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead 8–12 high-performing Agile teams and drive delivery across a modern, cloud-based product suite.   Their platforms power thousands of pubs and restaurants across the UK, handling everything from operations to payments and transaction-heavy systems. With a strong focus on customer-led innovation, this is a senior leadership role where you’ll shape products that genuinely transform how businesses operate.   What’s in it for you:
  • Hybrid working with 2-3 days per week in the Edinburgh office
  • Salary up to £85,000
  • 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
  • Comprehensive private healthcare
  • 5% pension contribution
  • Your birthday off
The Role: As Software Development Manager, you’ll take ownership of delivery across multiple SaaS product teams, operating in a hands-off, people-first leadership role. You’ll focus on strategy, delivery, and team performance, rather than day-to-day coding, empowering Engineering Managers and Tech Leads to execute effectively.   Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading 8–12 strong, cross-functional Agile teams across multiple products
  • Driving consistent, high-quality delivery aligned with business priorities
  • Partnering closely with Product, Architecture, and Senior Stakeholders
  • Overseeing planning, dependencies, and delivery across complex platforms
  • Creating an environment of accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation
  • Influencing processes, tooling, and team structures at scale
The tech environment is Microsoft-centric, with strong use of React on the frontend and Azure in the cloud. Experience in payments, high-availability systems, or transaction-heavy platforms will be highly beneficial.   About You:
  • Proven experience leading multiple software product teams in a hands-off leadership capacity
  • Strong background delivering SaaS platforms using Agile methodologies
  • Comfortable operating in Microsoft-based environments (Azure preferred)
  • Familiar with modern web technologies such as React
  • Experience with payments, fintech, or highly scalable systems is a plus
  • Confident communicator who can engage engineers, product leaders, and senior stakeholders
  • Pragmatic, organised, and delivery-focused, with a passion for developing people
  • Motivated by building strong teams and delivering products that matter to customers
If you’re a strategic, people-focused software leader who thrives in fast-paced SaaS environments and enjoys seeing teams deliver real-world impact, this is an outstanding opportunity.   Bright Purple is an equal opportunities employer. We are proud to work with clients who value diversity, inclusion, and fairness across the technology industry.
