ROLE DESCRIPTION

Brio Digital are supporting a consultancy on a major NHS digital programme and are looking for two experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineers to join a high-performing engineering team. You will play a senior role in the design and delivery of modern, scalable web applications, bringing strong full stack expertise across Next.js, TypeScript, and AWS in a programme delivering meaningful impact across NHS services nationwide.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and build high-quality, scalable full stack applications using Next.js and TypeScript
  • Develop and maintain cloud-native solutions on AWS, following well-architected and security best practices
  • Design, build, and consume RESTful APIs, ensuring performance, reliability, and security standards are met
  • Write and maintain automated end-to-end test suites using Playwright as part of the development workflow
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and engineering standards alongside the Technical Architect
  • Carry out thorough code reviews, championing quality and best practice across the team
  • Work within CI/CD pipelines, contributing to automated build, test, and deployment processes
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including architects, testers, and product owners
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across development, test, and live environments

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • NHS or government experience is essential - candidates without this will not be considered
  • Strong, demonstrable senior-level full stack development experience on complex programmes
  • Proficient in Next.js and TypeScript across both front end and back end development
  • Solid AWS experience across core services including Lambda, S3, EC2, and RDS
  • Proven REST API design and development experience
  • Experience writing automated tests using Playwright
  • Comfortable working in an Agile delivery environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage across technical and non-technical teams
  • Able to work remotely and independently with occasional travel to London
