Location: London, EC3R ((Hybrid, 2 days per week)

Salary: £120,000 – £140,000 + benefits

We’re looking for a Head of Engineering to join a scaling FS trading platform client who can combine hands-on technical expertise with strategic direction — building scalable infrastructure, driving innovation, and leading a high-performing engineering team.

🌟 About the Role

As Head of Engineering, you’ll take ownership of the end-to-end technology areas — from hands-on system architecture and infrastructure to DevOps and delivery. You’ll be instrumental in defining the engineering roadmap, implementing modern practices, and ensuring the trading platform systems are robust, secure, and built to scale.

This is a hybrid role permitting 2 days a week in the office where you will combining technical depth with leadership impact — perfect for someone passionate about engineering excellence, automation, and empowering teams to deliver their best work.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the overall engineering and DevOps strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of engineers, promoting innovation and technical excellence.
  • Maintain hands-on involvement in infrastructure design, system architecture, and DevOps implementation.
  • Oversee development, integration, and optimisation of internal applications and APIs.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and automation frameworks.
  • Ensure system reliability, scalability, and security across all environments.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on technology planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Champion Agile and DevOps methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate new technologies and vendor solutions to support growth and innovation.

🧠 Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven leadership in engineering and DevOps strategy within fast-paced environments.
  • Strong technical foundation in Linux systems , cloud infrastructure , and automation .
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible, Terraform, Puppet , or similar tools.
  • Proficiency in Python, Golang, or Java .
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipelines , PostgreSQL , and related database technologies.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and cloud platforms ( AWS , GCP , or OpenStack ).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with O365, MS Teams, and OneDrive a plus.
