ROLE PURPOSE

We are currently supporting a consultancy who are working on a security function within a national NHS England digital programme. The post holder will act as Deputy Security Officer, providing day-to-day oversight of security monitoring, incident management, and assurance activities across a portfolio of NHS digital products and services.

The successful candidate will work closely with central Cyber Security teams and internal delivery teams to ensure security risks are identified, managed, and remediated in line with NHS and government security standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Security Monitoring & Incident Management

  • Monitor the security posture of NHS digital products and services on an ongoing basis
  • Raise, track, and manage security incidents through to resolution
  • Monitor outputs from Tenable and Dependabot, ensuring remedial actions are assigned, tracked, and completed
  • Conduct spot-checks on recorded live system accesses to identify anomalies or policy breaches
  • Follow up and report on red-line security status across the programme

Penetration Testing & Assurance

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of penetration tests including scoping, procurement, and remediation tracking
  • Run Red Team tests against products and services, coordinating findings with relevant technical teams
  • Run yearly AWS Well-Architected Reviews and ensure findings are actioned appropriately

Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory

  • Liaise with central NHS Cyber Security teams, maintaining alignment with national security policy and frameworks
  • Advise on API consumer access security arrangements as required
  • Support internal teams in understanding and meeting security obligations
