Job summary
The Technology Support team delivers and maintains the critical infrastructure that supports clinical and operational services across multiple hospital sites. This Band 7 Technical Support Analyst role is a senior technical position focused primarily on enterprise networking, network security and connectivity services across a complex healthcare environment
The successful candidate will help support, design and continually improve the Trust's network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WIFI and datacentre networking. Responsibilities include network performance management, capacity planning, resilience testing, network security, infrastructure upgrades and the delivery of technical projects that improve reliability, availability and user experience. Significant experience of switching and routing, wireless, firewalls, network monitoring, structured cabling, NAC and enterprise security is essential
A key element of the role will be supporting the Trust's ongoing Software Defined Access programme, which is transforming network services across the hospital. Working closely with operational teams, suppliers and project stakeholders, the post holder will be one of the senior leads in the team, acting as an escalation point for network incidents, cyber security compliance, disaster recovery planning and service improvement
Candidates should possess substantial experience supporting large-scale enterprise networks. Out of ours work and 24/7 on-call may be required
Main duties of the job
Senior Infrastructure Specialist responsible for managing complex infrastructure environments, leading group-wide initiatives and ensuring system reliability, security and performance. The role oversees multiple systems and applications, acting as a technical lead and liaison between operational teams, suppliers and customers. Responsibilities include infrastructure design, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement, supporting projects through Agile, Waterfall or other methodologies while ensuring solutions meet business and technical requirements.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, the post holder provides specialist expertise in areas such as networking, voice, systems administration, storage or compute technologies. Duties include automation, monitoring, capacity planning, backup and disaster recovery, patch management, testing, performance optimisation and production support. The role is accountable for maintaining secure configurations, compliance with cyber security and data protection standards, operational documentation, service performance monitoring and technical governance. It also involves mentoring colleagues, evaluating emerging technologies and delivering infrastructure improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Person Specification
Training, Knowledge and Experience
- Master's degree, NVQ Level 5, VQ Level 7 or relevant experience.
- Requires extensive relevant work experience deploying and/or administrating infrastructure solutions.
- Requires strong knowledge and experience with multiple infrastructure solutions.
- ITIL Foundation certification
- Agile Certification or exposure
- Relevant industry certification is required.
- Is fully familiar with recognised industry bodies of knowledge both generic and specific, and knowledge of the business, suppliers, partners, competitors and clients.
