Web & Platform Lead

As a key member of the commercial team, the Web & Platform Lead will be responsible for the development, optimisation, integration, and ongoing management of the group’s websites, digital platforms, and business systems.

This role combines hands-on web development expertise with ownership of key operational and marketing platforms including website infrastructure, CRM systems, automation tools, reporting platforms, and customer engagement technologies. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of scalable, efficient, SEO-optimised, and user-focused digital solutions that support commercial growth, operational efficiency, customer experience, and internal collaboration across the group.

The role requires a technically capable and commercially aware individual who can manage multiple digital ecosystems, identify opportunities for automation and optimisation, and work collaboratively with stakeholders across marketing, sales, operations, and senior leadership.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Website Development & Management

  • Develop, maintain, and optimise websites across the group, ensuring high performance, responsiveness, security, scalability, and SEO best practices.
  • Implement on-page SEO strategies including technical optimisation, metadata management, page structure, schema markup, internal linking, and site performance improvements.
  • Monitor website health, search visibility, analytics, and user engagement to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Design and implement user-friendly interfaces and digital experiences that enhance customer engagement, lead generation, and conversion.
  • Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes, plugins, modules, and integrations.
  • Ensure websites are fully responsive, cross-browser compatible, and compliant with accessibility standards and best practices.
  • Conduct regular testing, debugging, updates, and performance optimisation.
  • Implement and maintain website security measures including authentication, encryption, backups, and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with marketing and content teams to translate concepts, wireframes, campaigns, and SEO requirements into fully functional digital experiences.

Platform & Systems Ownership

  • Coordinate with Commercial and Operations teams to lead the management, optimisation, and integration of business platforms including but not limited to:
  • Monday.com
  • Mailchimp
  • Zapier
  • Fathom Analytics
  • CRM systems
  • Form and workflow platforms
  • Reporting and automation tools
  • Identify opportunities to automate business processes and improve operational efficiency through system integrations and workflows.
  • Build and maintain integrations between websites, CRM systems, marketing platforms, and operational tools using APIs and automation platforms.
  • Monitor platform performance, data accuracy, and system reliability.
  • Support departments with platform configuration, troubleshooting, reporting, and user adoption.

Commercial & Strategic Support

  • Work closely with the Commercial Vice President and wider team to support commercial objectives through digital innovation and optimisation.
  • Analyse website, campaign, and platform data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Support lead generation, customer journey optimisation, and digital reporting initiatives across websites, and social media.
  • Contribute to digital transformation projects and future technology planning across the group.

Role Requirements

  • Qualifications and/or proven experience in Computer Science, Web Development, Platform Management, Digital Technologies, Marketing Technology, or related fields.
  • Strong working knowledge of WordPress development and management.
  • Proficient in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
  • Experience with SEO best practices, technical SEO implementation, website optimisation, and analytics platforms.
  • Experience with platform management and automation tools including Monday.com, Mailchimp, Zapier, Fathom Analytics, or equivalent systems.
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs, automation workflows, and CRM systems.
  • Strong understanding of UX/UI principles, responsive design, website optimisation, and accessibility standards.
  • Experience with analytics, reporting tools, and digital performance monitoring.
  • Experience of eCommerce platforms, online booking systems, reservations systems, and/or events ticketing platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with version control workflows and development best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in improving operational efficiency through technology.
  • Willingness to undergo enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding training.
